Ready for Winter?

Filter Cartridges

conventional and oil separator cartridges (OSC)

During the winter season, a major cause of breakdowns is the build up of moisture in the braking system. This moisture can freeze causing damage to the braking components. All air braking and suspension systems require clean, dry air to function correctly, efficiently and safely. Knorr-Bremse filter cartridges, derived from proven Knorr-Bremse technology, delivers exactly what is needed...

... good quality clean, dry air!

Model Types

There is no doubt that the Filter Cartridge has played a major part in prolonging the service life of air braking system components. It may, however, have become a victim of its own success in fostering a “Fit and Forget” philosophy. Unfortunately nothing lasts forever and even genuine Knorr-Bremse Filter Cartridges have to be replaced sometime. Moisture, oil and other contaminants increase the cost of maintenance of the vehicle (braking system, suspension system and transmission management). A correctly operating filter cartridge can reduce the risk of:

  • Freezing problems.
  • Corrosion.
  • Damage to the lubricants and seals of the products within the system.
  • Clogging problems.

There are two main types of Knorr-Bremse filter cartridges:

  • Conventional Filter Cartridges
  • Oil Separator Cartridges (OSC)
The conventional filter cartridge is the most commonly used filter cartridge on the market today and has well proven effectiveness in preventing moisture and particles from compressed air, from entering the air systems. The Oil Separator Cartridge (OSC), a 2 in 1 filter cartridge, is a further development from the conventional filter cartridge and can be easily fitted in place of the conventional filter. Its unique design carries all the benefits of the conventional cartridge but also filters and removes practically all oil impurities before the air reaches the desiccant. By doing so it protects not only the air systems from oil contamination but also the desiccant itself assuring an optimal drying performance.
